Can you really say you went to Jamaica if you didn’t go rafting in one of their rivers? Ocho Rios boasts the beautiful White River for rafting and tubing. Cushioned rafts made of bamboo, and adorned with local florals, carry you down calm blue waters. We had a relaxing river experience with Captain Noel through Rafting on The White River Tours (876-504-0978/876-459-8200). It's evident he has years of experience as he was extremely skilled and graceful on the waters.
On this river, there are a few locations for day and evening activities. Contact Rafting on The White River to request an afternoon of the freshest lobster or a limestone massage with your river rafting excursion. Further up the river there is a venue for a private romantic dinner, or event, alongside gorgeous flowing blue water. The White River flows down into a beautiful beach utilized by the fishing village. We hopped off of our rafts for a delightful dip in the ocean at Sunset Beach. Accurately named; the water was indeed twinkling with golden sunlight in the middle of the afternoon. Down the shore there is an au natural beach where wardrobe is not required and actually prohibited. If you’re interested in staying for this kind of beach experience you can look into the Couples Sans Souci Resort. This couples resort sits just inland from the naturist beach.
There are a couple vendors stands, with snacks and cool beverages, on the beach and also where you exit the river, so you may want to bring some cash for a light refreshment. We indulged in coconuts and sugarcane, each item being under 5 USD. Pack a dry bag, wear a swimsuit and slather yourself in bug repellent. Depending on what you partake in, this experience will be at least 1-2 hours and start at 25 USD per person.
